TOKENS

Bitcoin tokens. Know what you’re reading.

A reader’s guide to bitcoin tokens news: identity, mechanics, supply claims, and the story attached to an asset.

Start by identifying the object

“Bitcoin tokens” can be an imprecise label. Before reading a launch as an opportunity, establish what the announcement concerns. Is it an interchangeable token, an individual digital artifact, or a claim involving another network? The name on the screen is the beginning of the question, not the answer.

This hub gives Runes and inscriptions separate reading paths. The articles link to the relevant protocol documentation, explain a small set of terms, and then show how to investigate the claims surrounding a project. They do not recommend mints, collections, or trading venues.

Mechanics before market narratives

For a token announcement, ask how the asset is identified, how units are allocated, and which terms govern additional issuance. For an individual artifact, ask what the content contains, how it is identified, and what evidence supports the provenance story. A confident valuation cannot replace either investigation.

Keep technical existence, product utility, and market demand in separate paragraphs. A documented protocol does not establish that a promised application is complete. A visually interesting artifact does not tell you what a future buyer might pay. These are distinct claims requiring distinct evidence.

Research without connecting a wallet

You can make meaningful progress by reading documentation and organizing questions. A research note should include the exact asset, the source of the description, and the main uncertainty. It should never contain recovery words or private keys, and an educational publication does not need you to authorize a transaction.

For related operational responsibilities, read the wallet custody checklist. For a project whose token is attached to a proposed application, the startup adoption guide helps separate a roadmap from a demonstrated workflow.

Build a comparison that preserves differences

Read both guides below, then compare the questions they prioritize. Identity and evidence remain important in each, but the objects and mechanics differ. The purpose of a topic hub is to make those differences easier to navigate, not to place unlike assets into a single promotional category.
